Ayotte drums have earned a reputation for excellence among discriminating drummers through head-turning innovation, matchless commitment to quality, and a certain, well—magic. The drum builder attracted serious attention by re-engineering and re-introducing wood hoops on drums long after steel hoops had replaced them entirely. The hoops helped define the singular Ayotte sound—in a word: organic. The thing is, even the steel hoop Ayottes have the good earth in ‘em, and nothing sounds quite like it. The TuneLock lugs, Suspension Bridge mounting system, Strong Arm clamps, and sculpted bass drum spurs all represent the Ayotte aesthetic of simplicity and function. Custom

Ayotte is custom. Do you want a 12” tom with a 7 11/16” depth? You got it. Want to match a ’66 Gretsch burgundy sparkle in rich lacquer, or the Sepia Brown exterior of a ‘79 Porsche 911 coupe in a hand rubbed stain? No problem (just send us the Porsche for reference!). Custom art? 50 ply snare drum? Staggered lugs? Done. Done. And done. VELVET custom: 22bd, 12tt, 13tt, 16tt, 14sd — gold sparkle, steel hoop
This is a custom, one-of-a-kind Ayotte Velvet series drumset. This special-built set was made to spec depths in a finish otherwise unavailable, and is equipped with the long style lug instead of the standard small style. It is truly unique. The Ayotte Velvet series is built in the same facility, by the same people, to the same exacting standards as the Ayotte Custom series drums. The only difference is the shell configuration: 8 ply with no sound rings. The sound is a bit more focused and punchy, but with the full dynamic range of the 6ply/6ply sound ring shells of the Custom drums. This set is built to reflect the look and sound of the great American classic drums of the 60s and 70s, with traditional sizes and a killer gold sparkle lacquer finish.
